Update Your Membership Record
Why it’s important to keep your details up to date
Each Unison member has a record of all their personal information stored in the National Unison Membership System. The importance of keeping this information up to date is critical for several reasons. These include the following:
Unison nationally, or from a branch perspective, require at times to contact you with important news/information/consultation. To ensure you are not excluded from this, then it is important that your preferred e mail address and up to date postal address are included.
There may be occasions when formal ballots are required from Unison members, and once again it is vital e mail and postal address are current.
Branch mapping of members and their workplaces are required periodically. Therefore, it is important that correct workplace and job titles are current.
Local stewards are provided with contact lists of their members to be able to advise of workplace matters, member meetings etc and therefore once again it is vital, they have current e mail addresses and contact numbers.
With regards GDPR process, we require your permissions to contact you. There are various tick boxes to be signed off to allow this.
Members get married/divorced and forget to advise of name changes which result in out-of-date information. Moving house results in out-of-date postal addresses if these are not changed.
All personal information is held securely and can only be accessed by National Unison Membership staff, and from a branch perspective, by the branch membership officer and branch secretary only.
Whilst all the information is important, the 3 main areas that are of vital importance when it comes to being able to contact members are the following.
Preferred e mail address
Up to date home postal address
Permissions tick boxes completed to authorise contact.
