UNISON Scottish Health Care Branch Newsletter

Issue 01

Welcome to the first edition of our branch newsletter. In this issue we have news of our first member’s prize draw, where members can win one of three voucher prizes. We have information about one of the newest parts of NHS Scotland - the National Contact Centre - and how we are expanding our reach into this area. For the first time, we are sharing personal stories from our members about how our stewards have represented them when they’ve had issues at work - giving you an insight into the daily work of stewards which few get to see.

Our branch secretary gives an update on our branch’s new office in Edinburgh, and asks that members make sure we have their current contact information. It’s really important that we have your latest information, both for day-to-day branch administration and in case we ever need to get in touch with your for the purposes of industrial action.

Finally, we have updates from Susan Cook - our Welfare Officer, and Michael Craig - our Equalities Officer. Susan draws attention to There For You, UNISON’s registered charity; while Michael highlights the work of our Equalities groups and encourages members to get involved in equality work both in the union and in their employers.
